The 2015 TBB Team

We would like to introduce the members of our 2015 Teaching Beyond Borders Team

Anna Carbajal Anna Carbajal

Hello! My name is Anna Carbajal. I am so excited to be a part of the Teaching Beyond Borders team! I couldn’t think of a better way to help out others in need and to see some place new at the same time. Teaching is my passion and I hope to make trips like this often to help as many children as I can. Once in Haiti, I hope to explore all I can and meet new people that I will build lasting relationships with.

Vada Lay Vada Lay

My name is Vada and I have been a Daytona State Student since 2011. I am currently working on my Bachelors in Elementary Education. When I am not at school I work full time at a daycare in Daytona. After getting my Bachelors degree I want to teach in third world countries for a few years, and I believe Haiti will be a perfect way to experience this. Being able to help the teachers and students there means the world to me.

cathy hollandCathy Holland

My name is Cathy and my top four life passions are: faith, family, Haiti, and education!  I have been traveling to Haiti for over 13 years.  I fell in love with the beautiful Haitian people and country on my very first trip.  I was fortunate to be part of the TBB team last year and tremendously enjoyed working with the Haitian students, teachers, TBB professors, and TBB team members.  I am passionate about education and feel that our TBB team has knowledge we can share with Haitian educators.  I look forward to learning from them as well.  I can’t wait to return to Cap Haitien with the TBB team!

sue griffithSusan Griffith

Susan was born in Utica, New York 57 years ago!   She has worked full-time since age 15 as a night manager at a grocery store, studied science and accounting in college the first time, and ultimately became a construction superintendent for 33 years in Florida where she has lived since 1982.  With her husban, Fred, they have four children. Two years ago, when her youngest son went off to college, she decided to return to college to pursue her teaching credentials.  It has been a great challenge, and has turned into another great passion! To see a child grasp a concept after working on it and gaining confidence in themselves is so rewarding! Susan has traveled throughout Europe, Canada, the Bahamas and Mexico, and lived in 7 states.  She greatly respects other peoples’ culture and beliefs, has a quest for lifelong learning, and believes a smile is the start of a universal language.
